The Association of Austrian Mountain and Ski Guides (VÖBS) and the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations (IFMGA) are holding their general assemblies together in Vienna in November 2025 on the occasion of their respective 60th anniversaries.
Representatives of the international mountain guide associations from all 28 member countries worldwide (the Alpine countries of Switzerland, Italy, France and Austria as founding states as well as representatives from Europe, North and South America, Scandinavia and Asia) will be present.

We will hold the gala evening – the highlight of our anniversary – from 7:00 p.m. in the ballroom of the Casino Baden near Vienna.
Under the title "Alpine Knowledge and Skills of Mountain and Ski Guides", the Austrian Mountain and Ski Guides have been included in the UNESCO Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2021.
Vienna has always played an important role in the development of alpinism , honorable greats such as Paul Preuß, the brothers Zsigmondy, Herbert Tichy or Friedrich Simony have had a significant influence on the history of ascent in the Eastern Alps as well as worldwide. In addition, Vienna is also home to the most important alpine clubs.
